Cool Vs. Safe

According to some of our youth, we are not "cool" anymore! When we bought our Honda Accord 4 years ago, it had low profile tires on it with cool looking rims. It isn't a big deal to us what kind of wheels we have, but since the car came with them we thought we'd keep them. However, whenever you have low profile tires, you have to always be checking to make sure they have enough air in them and they also make for a louder and bumpier ride. Plus, new tires cost around $600-700 for four. Last week, we had one of our back tires go flat and came to find out that both of our back tires were defective and the other back tire was about to go flat also. The Lord was watching over us though as I had just come home from Kansas a few days earlier and we had just traveled somewhere the morning it went flat. It could've been a bad blowout on the highway, but thankfully it happened in town. Anyhow, we decided to take the fancy wheels off and get normal size wheels (mostly because I want to feel safer.) When Travis went to pay for the new tires on our car, the young kid checking him out asked why we got rid of the "cool" wheels. Travis told him what happened and he said to Travis, "It's okay, you're still cool!" Regardless of how they look, I feel a lot safer now knowing that I have four new tires on the car! Hopefully now we can sell the other wheels to help pay for the new ones.
