The Things Addison Says and Does

Here are some things Addison has said or done lately that we thought were kind of cute and funny. One of the reasons I write about these things on my blog is so I can have a record for myself. This is one way for me to be able to remember these things. So, whether anybody reads it or not, I'll be able to look back someday and tell her about all the funny things she did!

  • Travis took Addison jogging the other day. She was sitting in the stroller and usually likes to look around at everything and talk to Travis about what she sees. Along the way, she spotted a kitten. As they approached it, she said to it, "Say meow. Say meow." After saying this several times to the kitty and getting no response, she looked up at Travis and said "the kitty is sad Dadda." Travis asked her why the kitty was sad and she said, "Because she doesn't have she's mommy and daddy." She then said to Travis, "She's just like this -- waaa, waaa." (the waa, waa was her making a crying sound.)
  • The other night we were watching the Olympics when women's gymnastics came on. Addison was really into it and sat watching for quite some time. I took her picture as she sat there next to Travis. After I took her picture she said to me, "Why did you take my picture?" I told her it was because she was so cute. She responded to that with, "I'm not cute. I'm pretty!"
  • This morning, Travis got Addison up. When he went in her room, she was sitting in her bed playing with her stuffed animals. She was holding her Canadian goose and staring at its face. She said to Travis, "The goose can't open she's mouth. How's she gonna eat she's food?"
  • Sunday night while we were watching the Olympics, Addison was sitting in the chair looking at books. She was looking at a counting book, counting the puppies. As she was counting, I realized that she wasn't counting like she usually does. Instead I heard, "uno, dos, tres, cuatro, cinco, seis." I couldn't believe what I was hearing and made Travis listen to see if I was really hearing right. We were amazed because neither of us have taught her this. The only thing we can figure out is that she must've learned it from Dora. It's so amazing to see them learn new things!
  • Our furnace is located in our kitchen behind a door by our table. Last night while we were sitting at the table eating, the air conditioner came on. Addison looked up at the door when she heard the noise. She looked at me and said, "There are lions and bears in there." (We had been talking about animals and the sounds they make earlier.) I asked here what the lions and bears were doing in there. She said, "Ummm.....they're looking for rabbits and kitties."
  • One night after Addison was in bed, she was calling for me to come in there. She's really getting good at stalling when it's time to go to bed. After listening to her for awhile, I finally went in to check on her. She was holding her blanket and said to me, "Mommy, Swiper's going to swipe my blanket." I had to laugh as I told her that Swiper was only on TV (Dora the Explorer) and that he wouldn't get her blanket. She seemed satisfied with that as I think she just wanted a reason to get me in there in the first place!

The stuff they come up with! It cracks me up. I can't wait to see her. I told the kids that you all would be here tomorrow & the must disappointed was Noah - "But I want to see her!" Your daughter is loved & very missed around here. :) So I'm putting in my "dibs" now on babysitting if you & Travis are ever out of town.
