Summer Vacation 2012 - Part 1

We went to Colorado this summer for our family vacation.  It was a fun trip and we decided on they way home that the theme was "animals."  We stayed in Colorado Springs at our friends Curtis and Debbie's for a few nights and then headed to Denver and spent a few nights there.

First stop was the Alligator Farm!  Interesting place to visit!  Not only are there alligators, they also have snakes, turtles, lizards, fish, birds and who knows what else! I don't particularly enjoy reptiles, but the girls loved it.  We bought a bucket of alligator food and it was amazing to see them fighting over the food.
We rode the train to the top of Pikes Peak.  The girls thought the train was lots of fun and I would agree...I would much rather ride the train then drive up there!

Tired out from the trip up the mountain!

While in Colorado Springs, we went to the zoo.  They have an awesome zoo...you can feed lots of the animals and get close them.
The birds frightened me a bit.  I was sure they were going to poop on my head!

We fed the giraffe's twice.  The first time we gave them lettuce and the second time we gave them a cookie/cracker.  It was hilarious to watch the girls!  Addison did not like all the slobber on their tongues, but she got used to it and by the end was feeding them all our food.  Mackenna would hold it out for them and the second the tongue would reach out for it, she'd drop it.  And then she'd squeal in delight!  She never did get the hang of it, but she thought it was great fun!
